Nuthall 96 all out
Wollaton 100-
Wollaton won by 4 wickets
Away to Nuthall was the game of the day in the Newark Alliance. Tricky’s first game of the season was eagerly awaited by the press and it was thought that the crowd may swell to at least 4 people.
Wollaton got to Nuthall an hour and a quarter before the scheduled start, seriously keen for a Sunday. This was down to a cock up from yours truly about the start time, but then a warm up happened of sorts. I’m all for a warm up before the game, but hungover on a Sunday made it even more of a surprise.
The main excitement before the game was seeing our old covers which Nuthall had purchased from us before the start of the season. They had done some good work to them and looked clean for a change! They had obviously found a good home.
Wollaton lost the toss, which took place in the changing room as i couldn’t be bothered to walk out the middle and we were asked to field.
The wicket looked slightly under prepared due to the weather over the week and it certainly ‘did a bit’.
Wollaton bowled out Nuthall for 96 thanks to good bowling from Kirkwood and others, a few lusty blows from Nuthall late on put a score that might not be easy on a difficult wicket.
Suman and debutant Ed Hall opened up and made it look very easy, both getting very nice 30s.
Wollaton then lost wickets at regular intervals but were lead home by fans favourite Tricky, 7 not out. Tom Savill hit the winning runs with a shot that Tricky obviously enjoyed.
Back to HQ for a “Good Fortune” and to hear about Mick missing a straight one.
